2005 pt cruiser wont shift very hard seems tight

    2005 pt cruiser wont shift very hard seems tight

    my 2005 pt cruiser will not start unless its in the neutral position also it seems very tight when I try to shift if I can at all what could be the problem?

    oof new car,, is it a stick shift,, sounds like it you might need a new clutch and throw out bearing... they do wear out..  get a second opinion,,

    That is pretty normal with new cars. But if you are bothered by it, it wouldn't hurt to have a mechanic check on it and adjust it so that it would not be too tight.

    Later- model cars with   manual   shift transmission like yours have a clutch start switch. This ensures that the clutch pedal is depressed before the the starter motor gets electricity.if there is no continuity when the clutch pedal is depressed, the starter won't energize.
      the switch is located behind the clutch pedal.
