I believe the upper ball joint on the driver side needs to be replaced. Is it necessary to replace both upper and lower and on both driver and passenger side?

its not necessary to replace all 4 ball joints but you should definatly replace both upper ones, if you have the time and the funds, your best option is to replace all 4, that way u know they are all good, and you only have to preform an alignment once

I think it's much better to replace the 4 bolts, but if you're not sure and not enough budget, just have it equal.

Try to look for cheap parts at autopartswarehouse.com, so you can replace all four of them.
