    96 cavilier has no spark

could I have a bad camshaft sensor or crankshaft sensor that could cause this problem? also where is it located?

Re: 96 cavilier has no spark

The crank sensor is the only sensor that can cause a no spark condition. This sensor is located behind the engine above the passsenger side cv shaft. However there could be more things that are cousing this for example the fuse that feeds the ignition computer.Check the fuses that are in the under hood fuse box.Do you have a multimeter? A volt meter?I could help you do some testing .Give me the size of the engine and thats all i will need.

Re: 96 cavilier has no spark

I have a fluke tester. a little history this car had a tack in it and the person before me took it out he cut the coil pack wire behind the plug and twisted them together and taped they were very tight and they come apart so I put wire connectors on itworked good for a while. went into pay for fuel left car running come out it was shut off tried to start and it wouldnt could here fuel pump run found there to be no spark. So I jiggled these wires to make sure something didnt come loose car started let run for a few minutes and it tried to shut off 2 timees then did so jiggled wire again it started drove to my bother-in-laws put on ramps and sodiered 3 " of wire into help make wire not so tight when plugged in now I have no spark again. greatly appreciate any help not real good with tester but you explain what to do I'll try it.

thank you and may God blesS

Re: 96 cavilier has no spark

Get a test light and remove the connector at the ignition control module with the pink and black wires.place the key on with the engine off and take one end to a good ground maybe the battery neg. post. and the other end take it to the connector pink wire terminal. The test light should turn on.Now take the end that was grounded and place it in on a known good positive and take the other end to the connector'sblack wire terminal. The test light should come on.Take the other connector off the one with the white and orange wires and get your test light.Place the one end to a good ground and the probe to the white or or the orange terminal at the connector. While someone cranks the engine thetest light should blink.Do the same with the orange wire.If one or more of this tests fail, please repost.I will write my cell # to you in a private message if you have any questions. All you have todo is click on the inbox on the top right corner and you can see the message.hope any of this helps. If you dont have a test light then you can use the fluke. All you have to dois place it in voltsdirect current and takeone lead to positive and the other to negative just like the test light.remember thatyou areworking with a 12 volt system.

Re: 96 cavilier has no spark

I found I had no current on the orange and white wire to the ignition module so now that I replaced the crankshaft sensor I have curent to the ignition module but still now no spark to the plugs going to check the  ignition module like you said to.
