1994 525i Crank Sensor

    1994 525i Crank Sensor

    gt88,

You sound like you might be able to help me, I to have a 94 525i and in my Bentley's Manual it states that the crank sensor should have a resistance of aprox. 1,280 ohms for this car/engine and in testing the unit that was in the car, which may not have been original and the car has not run since I have had it, it read bad.  I have ordered a replacement unit for the car and it reads arpox. 540 ohms, then went to the BMW dealership and got them to pull the same sensor for this car and theirs read aprox. 540 ohms.  The 540 ohm setting is consistant w/ what Bentley's call out for a M20 or M30 engine and then it differenciates for the M50 or M60 engines w/ a sensor that should read 1,280 ohms.

So what would be your call, dealership confused or Bentley's incorrect?

    Thanks, Theo
