My brother-in-law has been trying to remove the harmonic balancer so that he can remove the plastic timing belt cover so that he can view the timing mark on the crank, (can already see the the timing mark on the camshaft pulley) to make sure that the timing is set correctly.
The bolt is refusing to loosen up using breaker bars, air impact wrenches, even used "Liquid Wrench" to see if it would help but alas, the bolt seems to have been "welded" on. Is it necessary to remove the timing cover to view the mark on the crankshaft pulley? Or is there a mark on the harmonic balancer that allows us to verify that the crank shaft is in the correct position? Any help and further information with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
