I have a 1997 Taurus and very recenly replaced the alternator. Two day after installing, I began to have a problem with no (or at least intermittent) power to my door windows, the sound on my radio would cut out and the power steering quit. I dont know if there was any connection to just having replaced the alternator, but who knows. I have also found that the wiper "delay" does not function. Every once in awhile, as I am driving, I hear a clicking sound from under or inside the dash and all the things will work for a short time. What i then discovered was that if the car was in park or neutral, everything worked fine. I only have the problems when in reverse or drive. Could this be as simple as a neutral switch gone bad? Any other idea's?
