4WD "on the fly" from what i understand to engage the 4WD I'm supposed to put trans in neutral, then flip the switch from 2wd to "4WD high", then put trans into reverse roll back 2 or so feet or until I hear a C-CLUNK sound, and drive away in 4WD. well no.when i flip the switch I hear nothing! it does nothing. also every so often the dash lights (4WDH, 4WDL) will start to flash 3 to 4 times then stop then flash again. then they won't do anything for a month then they will randomly (or so it seems) flash 3 or 4 times again. other than that, the transmission gives me no other problems. the tranie has 206,000 original miles and never needed work. this morning the fat lady upstairs was able to blow right passed me up a small hill in 3 inches of snow in her dated VW bug. my truck with fiberglass rear end, bald tires wouldn't climb an ant hill! I was pretty pissed!!! please help with any assistence you may have! anything at all. Is it a switch or the tranie or what? Ranger Fan needs Help. thanks!
