95 saturn SC2 DOHC, 1 cylinder not firing

Tongue Tied [:S] 95 saturn SC2 DOHC, 1 cylinder not firing

I noticed one day that the car lost power.  I was a Qt. low on oil (leaking around the spark plug wells of the valve cover, and getting sucked in around the plugs), I found out that the #1, (front of motor) cylinder was not firing at all.  I changed the fuel filter, I put new plugs in, I ohm tested the injector, I voltage tested the plug, I swapped the 1-2 injectors, (the problem stayed with #1),  I pulled the entire fuel rail and injectors out and all 4 injectors sprayed beautifully when the engine is cranked over.  I put it all back together and that cylinder will not fire at all.  Pulling the spark plug wire, or the injector plug off while it is running does not affect it at all.  If it was getting fuel and spark and the compression ring is shot it would still fire a little, right.  There is no piston banging going on.

Would a bad alternater and low battery cause enough of a voltage drop for that injector not to fire?  If so then why would it spray fuel when the injector was pulled out, and I was cranking the engine over.  I know that if a injector signal fails that injector will spray constantly and the car will act like a carburated engine.  Pulling the number 2 injector plug off will cause it to run bad at first but it revs up and runs fairly normal after a few seconds.

I am at a total loss here.

Please help! we are down to one car.
