I know my 1997 Ram (V6) with 221,000 miles is on its last leg. I apparently have blown something as it blows blue smoke from the exhaust every morning with the first sign of acceleration. I am burning or losing oil very quickly (about 5 quarts every 6 weeks) and I have accepted my truck's fate. However, when the oil level got low recently and the standard knocking began, I refilled it with oil, but the results have not changed. I have plenty of oil, but the gauge still shows low and the knocking has not stopped. Could it be the weather or do I now have a bigger problem than just the oil loss and smoky exhaust.
I know, its time to pull the plug, but I'd like to keep her around a little longer if I could. If anyone has any suggestions, they certainly would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
