Battery keeps going dead

    Battery keeps going dead

I have a 2000 mustang GT, I purchased the car from a bank that had repossessed it and it came with a salvage title. The problem is I can't keep battery charged. I took it to a mechanic who checked for electrical problems and he said I needed a new alternator and he installed a replacement. After not driving it for a couple of days, same problem it would not star. I returned it to the garage where the alternator had been replaced and again the mechanic checked it and this time he told me I needed a new battery  battery. Well it did fine for about a week and then I didn't drive it for a couple of days, went out one morning and again battery dead. I haven't notified the garage this time because I am disabled and live on a fixed income and don't have any extra money to pay for something I may or may not need. The battery problem seems to be worst when the temperature drops. I have installed a cutoff switch on the negative side of the battery and I now keep it turned off until I need to go somewhere. It seems to be working. I would really appreciate any help anyone might be able to provide me. I live in upper East TN.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME !!! CHRIS
