  • 1994 Ford Explorer - Transmission Trouble

My Explorer is not shifting gears normal. The engine winds up to high RPM's and won't up-shift without feathering off on the gas pedal. Reverse seems to be binding and makes klunking noise. The transmission fluid is not leaking, level is OK,  and fluid has no signs of metal or discoloration. Went very quickly from slipping ...

  • occasional transmission slip in reverse

I have a 1999 Explorer xls with 101,000 miles. I have noticed that sometimes when I shift to reverse the transmission seems to slip(ie. high rpm, very slow movement). This has only happened about 4 times in last two weeks. Problem is only occasional and seems to have no pattern. Other times works fine. Any suggestions?

  • Re: Blinking "overdrive off" light

I am having similar problems with a 95 Explorer and was looking for advice when I saw your post.  I have owned the vehicle for several years and this happens every so often.  Eventually, the light goes off and the transmission shifts normal again.  Sometimes the correction lasts several months, and after the third time it happened ...

  • Ford Explorer Transmission Trouble

My dad has a 92-93 Ford Explorer 4x4 V-6. Lately the truck has had trouble shifting. Today when he got home, he could not get it into park. He can shift from drive and lower but can not shift to reverse or park (key will not come out either). Any ideas. Thanks.
