I have 89 Ford Taurus GL, 3.8l, auto, approx 130,000 miles. I recently replaced the fuel pump. Now, sometimes it will start, sometimes it will not. When it does start, I hear the fuel pump, when it doesn't start, I do not hear the pump. I was told that it could be a faulty relay, but I can't find one, The local parts stores do not show ...

The battery went dead. It read –3.1 volts. The positive post was full of corrosion. I cleaned both posts and the voltage went up to –5.6 v. Then I heard a clicking noise from under the dash.
