it should crank in park or neutral ----the shifter has a sensor on it so you do not crank in any gear
the other sensors should not stop cranking

my son had buicks with dexcool (red coolant with foam around the radiator cap and a leak) in them-------if air get mixed with dexcool because of a intake manifold leak it turns like a foam, blocks the passages.--overheats the engine--bad
i would stick with prestone------they say it works on any engine and replaces any color in the web ...
